12/3-BIG Weekend!

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3RD – FAIRBURY’S HOLIDAY SEASON LAUNCH EVENTS

There’s a lot going on in Fairbury on Saturday, December 3rd, and it’s a package deal that has something for everybody.

The center attraction is the Fairbury Christmas Parade which will travel down Fairbury’s Main Street (Locust St) starting at 11:30am.  It’s a lot of visual entertainment that includes the winners of the Miss Merry Christmas and Mr. Jack Frost contest as well as other honored folks and, of course, it ushers in the Big Guy himself, Santa Claus.  At the conclusion of the parade Santa will be in the Park Gazebo until 2pm so the kids can visit with him, give him their “wish list”, and maybe let Mom and Dad take a picture or two.

Plenty of things going on before and after the parade and here’s what you can use to plan your day with:

The Specialty Shops of Fairbury are having a “Shopping Celebration” Event and you can check with each of the following to see what specials, discounts, seasonal gift ideas, and unique gift ideas they’ve got for your holiday shopping:
Country Cupboard
Dave’s Supermarket
Heart’s Desire Antiques & Accents
Kilgus Farmstead Country Store
Lost Arts
Meyer’s Gifts & Services
Once ‘n Again
Serendipity

Christmas Bazaar – at the First Baptist Church Gym
A Biscuits and Gravy Breakfast along with a Bake Sale begins at 7:30am and that’s followed by a variety of Vendor Booths that you can shop through from 9am to 2pm.  All proceeds go to benefit the “Relay for Life” with the local reference being “In Memory of Tammy Ricketts”.

There’s more yet:
Bluestem Bank is sponsoring free Horse & Buggy Rides until 1:00pm.

Prairie Central Elementary Cookie Jar Sales will be from 9am to 2pm at the old Weber Plumbing building at 208 E Locust.  It will be running in tandem with the Fairbury Women’s Club “Kids Christmas Corner” so, while your kids are in buying their gifts for the adults on their list the adults (who can’t go in and see what they’re buying) can check the Cookie Jar Sales event out.

The First Methodist Church is having a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast from 7am to 1pm.  Craft and Bake Sale items will also be available.

The Lions Club is having a Chili and Oyster Lunch at the Oddfellows building in downtown Fairbury from 11:30am to 1:30pm.

So there you go Folks – all kinds of things to see, do, and eat – it’ll be a great day for fun and excitement for everyone – go get yourself some!
