CHEESE – for all you cheese lovers, avid or casual, there is an event coming up in February that will give you the opportunity to expand your experience with different types of this dairy product. The Country Cupboard, one of Fairbury’s nifty specialty shops, is holding a “Cheese Tasting” day that will feature tasting samples of each of their 20 some different cheeses. This provides us with a chance to see what some of these, for lack of a better word, exotic cheeses taste like without having to buy more than we want for a taste test. So, head on out to their store on Route 24 about two miles east of Fairbury on Saturday, February 21st, and treat your palate to the multi-cheese experience – you can nibble on samples as you browse through their many aisles of kitchen and home food stuffs and products as well as their awesome deli. They’ll have some specials going on for the day as well and at least a couple of them will be for their deli items so get on out there and take advantage of their creativeness in customer oriented inspirations – happy cheese hunting!
Another nice program that the Country Cupboard folks are offering is a series of cooking classes that will focus on different aspects of the art of cooking. They have three classes set into the schedule and, if these three are well received, several more to follow. The classes are limited in size to just 10 participants but, if there is enough interest in a particular topic they can consider scheduling an additional class on that subject for those that didn’t make the first one. Here are the three that are on the short list:
- Tuesday, January 27th – Topic – Coconut Oil – Sorry, but this one is full – let them know though if you’d like to see another one.
- Monday, February 9th – Topic – Creative Veggies
- Thursday, February 19th – Topic – Blend, Chop, & Crunch – Making the blender into a Cook’s Helper
All the classes begin at 7pm and run until 8pm.
You need to get your name on the list for the class you want – give them a call at 815-692-3383 or, just stop in at the store – they’re there Monday through Saturday beginning at 8:30 in the morning and they’re open all day. The address is 24479 E 800 North Road but going east out of Fairbury on Route 24 you can’t miss them – north side of the road and look for the sign. If you’d like to see some more on their store you can catch them on line at firstname.lastname@example.org. There you go People – get into the cheeses, learn some interesting cooking techniques, and check out their shelves and deli to see what might fit your idea of making life easier, better, and tastier. Go get em’.
