It’s the Merry, Merry month of May! A time to stroll in the park and breathe in the fragrance of bright, beautiful blooms.
May is not only packed with colorful flowers, it’s also packed with a lot of events.
The first Saturday of May is busy, so let’s start it off with a hot breakfast. Enjoy pancakes and sausage at Odd fellows or biscuits, gravy and eggs at the VFW hall.
Now it’s time to shop!
The Fairbury Garden Club Plant Sale in on the lawn of Dominy Memorial Library. If you don’t really have a “green thumb” don’t worry – the Garden Club members will gladly share tips on how to make sure your newly purchased plants grow.
Next, pack your plants away, and join the crowd to bid on bargains at the 68th Annual Fairbury Community Sale starting at 10am. Locust Street will be lined up with furniture, bicycles, trees and even chickens!
All that shopping, meeting your friends and making new friends, make time for lunch. The Fairbury Fire-wives will have Pork Chop Sandwiches, Brats and Hot Dogs at Central Park.
Also, on May 4th, the 5th Annual Overdose Awareness Memorial Event is at North Park. A 5K/ 2 mile walk and Kids Fun Run plus activities for kids, raffle baskets, speakers and food.
One of our favorite Specialty Shops is celebrating 9 years in business! Cascade Garden is celebrating with a 9% off Customer Appreciation Sale on Saturday, May 4th.
Mother’s Day is this month! Find the perfect gift for mom when you Shop the Specialty Shops Mother Day Sales on the 10th & 11th.
It is race season! May brings us FALS Frenzy, Saturday night on the 10th.
The Dominy Memorial Library presents ‘The Unforgiven’ author Steve Vogel and Pantagraph reporter Edith Brady-Lunny. This free event is May 18th .
And we wrap up this busy month of May with Once ‘n Again ‘Clearance Sale’ on the 24th and 25th and a Memorial Day Sale.
