The Fairbury Christmas Parade – here we go, you kids of all ages – Santa Claus is coming to town and the annual Fairbury Christmas Parade is ushering him in. Saturday, December 6th, at 10:30am you need to be up on Fairbury’s Main Street to help welcome the Jolly Old Guy as he makes his yearly visit to the community for the purpose of personally listening to his young fans as they describe their holiday requests. This pre-Christmas Eve visit is honored with an assortment of Holiday Season Royalty and various representations of the communities infrastructure that will lead Santa Claus down the avenue and into the Walton Centre where he will gladly listen to all the youngsters tell him what they are hoping for when he comes back on Christmas Eve.
Our parade this year will be lead by the Fairbury Fire Department and the Royal Court will include Miss Merry Christmas and Mr. Jack Frost (the contest selectees) and their three couple court as well as the Fairbury Citizen of the Year so Santa will be in very good company. Get the family ready and come on up and enjoy the festivities, both with the parade and on the sidelines, and have yourself the beginning of a Very Merry Christmas. The Fairbury Women’s Club will have a “Kid’s Corner” going on from 10:30 to 1:00 in the Walton Centre where children can bring their list of who they are looking to buy gifts for and, for $1.00, they can be assisted in finding that just right item(s). Also in the Walton Centre there is a special bake sale, The Cookie Jar Sales, where you can pick up some great homemade treats and our good friends down at Dave’s Supermarket are taking care of their customers with special sales on a lot of things you can use for the holidays. It’ll be a great Saturday, a good way to launch the holiday festivities and spirit and everyone should be able to have a lot of fun and entertainment while you’re at it. Fairbury’s Main Street has plenty of places to grab a bit to eat and drink. a whole host of shops for your shopping convenience and there’s room for everyone so don’t miss out – bring the kids, bring yourself, bring everyone and enjoy the day.
By the way, if you’ve got some time to invest the Chamber of Commerce is in need of volunteers (you know, Santa type helpers) to assist with the event and, the Women’s Club could use some extra hands in their Kid’s Corner so don’t by shy, give them some help if you can.
