Dave’s Supermarket Business Anniversary – one of Fairbury’s premiere businesses will be celebrating their 65th anniversary on Tuesday, June 9th, starting around 10:30am and going until 1:00pm. Located at 120 South Third Street (two blocks north of Route 24) this family owned and managed grocery business has become an Icon in the communities grocery, home and business supplies, and customer service venues and, unlike so many of the small town grocery stores that used to be so popular, Dave’s has moved with the times and they truly live up to the “Super” in Supermarket. Started by Dave Stephen back in 1950 with just a corner location they have expanded to today’s modern arrangement that occupies the entire south half of the block between Second and Third Streets.
Sixty-five years is a lot of years and it is a testimonial to their quality, service, and innovative strategies that have kept customers from both near and far satisfied and coming back. In addition to the thousands of items that they stock they also have a great Deli, a Bakery that makes nothing but “good things”, a meat department that has a great reputation, and a dry cleaning service along with many other customer amenities that are provided by a friendly and experienced staff that is always glad to answer questions and give help when needed. They also have a team of guys who are efficient at bagging your purchases and carting them out to your vehicle so all you need to do is pop the trunk and let them fill it up. Dave’s is open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 9pm and they are “User Friendly” from the parking to the wide shopping aisles to their money saving weekly specials so, come on up, down, or over and see for yourself why their customer base just keeps growing.
The June 9th 65th anniversary “Pig-Out” will have pulled pork sandwiches and hot dogs along with sides and drinks for special customer appreciation style pricing along with musical entertainment (weather permitting) and plenty of fun for the entire family. Third Street, in front of the store, will be closed for use as a dining area (the food will be available rain or shine) and the whole “shindig” will be well orchestrated by some folks who know what they’re doing – good food, good people, good times! See you there.
