COMMUNITY SALE – Fairbury’s annual Auctioning Extravaganza, the Community Sale, is going to take place Saturday, May 2nd, starting at 10:00am and this assemblage of most every device known to man for home, garden, yard, and driveway will be going up for grabs. Spotted throughout this auctioning battleground are also things with feathers, fur, and green foliage plus a host of miscellaneous that can challenge the imagination and all of it will be staged on Fairbury’s Main Street (Locust Street) between First Street and Fifth Street. This can actually be classified as a buyers/sellers holiday and the festivities are abundant so come on up, down, or over, get yourself a number at the registration desk in the Historic City Hall, now the office of the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce (also right there on Main Street). Just look for the clock tower and join the adventure. There’s everything here Folks, for bargain hunters, antique hunters, collectors, and, most importantly, for those who need a lawnmower, a bicycle, or, just about anything, to fill a vacancy in your personal menagerie. There will be multiple teams of auctioneers working the designated area so get up there early and pick your targets so you’ll be ready to bid when the things you’re interested in go on the block.
In addition to all the mainstay activity you will also find sidewalk sales on baked goods, merchandise from the shops that are in the proximity, and food stands so there are plenty of attention getters along the way. All of the businesses in the vicinity will also be open for your shopping or dining pleasure so there’s plenty to do that can go towards making your day both fun and exciting. The Specialty Shop Group of Fairbury’s Finest in the Unique Arena also have a week-end event (Friday and Saturday) going in tandem with the Big Sale so check them out as well. How can you go wrong; you can browse, you can buy, you can eat, and you can spectate and all in all it promises to be quite a day so come on out and join the fun cause its by the community for the community and, that’s you!
