DOMINY MEMORIAL LIBRARY – Fairbury’s own Center of Learning and Information, the Dominy Memorial Library, is working to raise money to purchase some new computers for their patrons. This is an effort that will benefit all the folks (kids and adults) who use this facility for all the things that libraries do to advance our knowledge, both recreational and educational, and the operating staff at Dominy is to be commended for their personal attention that’s focused on keeping the library in peak condition to that end. Debbie Oakland is providing a unique piece of hand crafted, one of a kind, pottery productions for a public raffle. This piece comes from BluEarth Artwork and was designed and hand made by Frank Kies, an artist and art enthusiast, who is renown for his personal artwork productions and presentations.. This particular piece is the size of a cookie jar and, could be used for that express purpose but, it has the appeal and size to be used for any number of things (i.e. a flower arrangement, etc.). The value of the pottery jar is $65 in today’s market and it is unique in its colors and artistic design – it is, one of a kind.
The raffle drawing is scheduled to be held on Friday, May 8th, and tickets can be purchased for $2 each or 3 for $5 and they are available at the library, Serendipity, and Nussbaum’s Ace Hardware Store, all here in Fairbury. So come on People, let’s help support this worthwhile effort and get yourself some tickets – the money you spend on a ticket or three makes you a winner even before the drawing takes place because it all goes towards putting updated equipment into use for our kids and ourselves in a facility that is well worth investing in. Be a supporter and, who knows, you might just end up with a very nice piece of artistic earthenware that comes from a production of one. Think of it this way maybe, it could make a very nice gift for Grandma – right (?), you betcha!
