Fairbury sparkles this December with snow-covered historic homes and farmhouses glowing with families and friends and shining bright with holiday lights.
There’s so much to do! From shopping, to dining, to enjoying the sights and sounds of the holiday season.
You’ll find something special for everyone on your list with you shop small and shop local. Fairbury is a great place to do Christmas shopping. The Specialty shops are especially inviting this time of year with in-store specials, treats, and as always friendly, personal service.
Family, friends and food come together this month. Fairbury has many choices of great places to eat, from home-styled cooking, to burgers and steaks, to Chinese and Mexican, plus shops that feature every ingredient you need to make mouthwatering home cooked meals.
Take time to enjoy Fairbury this month and step back in time to tour Fairbury Echoes Museum. The museum preserves and presents local historical items from the area. Echoes Museum is located at 126 West Locust Street and open on Thursday and Fridays from 1:00 to 4:30 and on Saturdays from 9:00 to 11:30.
Bundle up and get away from the hustle and bustle to hike the trails through Fugate Woods Nature Preserve. Quiet and serene, Fugate Woods is just 2 1/2 miles northeast of Fairbury and contains more than 150 acres of native timber and restored prairie.
Another holiday must see are the Timber Ridge luminaries. Starting at dusk on December 14th and again on the 15th, (using your parking lights only) take a slow drive through the Timber Ridge community to view this wonderful light show.
