Autumn in Fairbury is amazing! The air is brisk and clean, piles of red, yellow and orange leaves, pumpkins everywhere, and shops filled with spicy scented candles. Everything smells wonderful!
And there is so much to do! Not just harvesting, raking leaves, or weatherizing your home!
Autumn is a great time to go for a hike and Fugate Woods is the perfect place, with over 150 acres of native timber and restored prairie. You are sure to spot red-tailed hawks, and white-tailed deer.
Take a leisurely drive through the country to view some of our favorite farms…Kilgus, Slagle, Spence or Hoffman’s Little Acres. Go early or late in the day to see incredible sunrises and sunsets.
Another Fairbury fall favorite is wrapping up in a blanket, and munching on popcorn while cheering the Hawk’s to victory at home games.
This is the time of year for collecting pine cones. Pine cones are wonderful for decorating, you can usually find them by looking around the neighborhood. Of course, the scented ones are easy to find at Fairbury’s Specialty Shops.
And speaking of shops… not only do you need new scarves and sweaters for yourself, but the holiday season is also here and it’s time for Christmas shopping. Fairbury is home to wonderful Specialty Shops and you’ll find the perfect gift for family and friends on your list.
Of course, autumn is all about picking the perfect pumpkin! For a warm delicious baked pumpkin pie or a great pumpkin carved into a Jack-O-Lantern, you can find the one you want in Fairbury!
Falling leaves, family and fun – Enjoy Fairbury this fall!
