FAIRBURY, IL – BREAKFAST ON THE FARM AT KILGUS FAMILY FARM
7th Annual “Breakfast on the Farm” – how about a good ol’ country breakfast? Some biscuits and gravy, eggs, and milk, juice, or coffee served in the ambiance of a real country farm setting – not a bad way to start the day. On Saturday morning, June 10th, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am, you can enjoy the breakfast, hosted by the Kilgus Family Farmstead and sponsored by the Livingston Country Farm Bureau Young Leaders and, get this, the cost is only $1.00! Now that’s a bargain no matter what. All the proceeds go to the Livingston Country Food Pantry so it’s a good cause put on by a lot of good people that know what they’re doing. For all you “city slickers” who have curiosity questions about farm life there will be an “Ask a Farmer” booth, with a real Farmer in it, that you can go and get some answers from. Bring the family because there will be things for the kids to do along with free farm tours and, for Mom (and everyone), there’s the Kilgus Country Store with all kinds of locally produced products from meat, cheese, and eggs to a lot of other assorted items of interest.
It gives everyone an insight as to what goes into stocking those grocery store shelves with the food items that your household runs on and a chance to look behind the scenes to see how it all comes together. The Kilgus Family Farmstead does it all, and have for a lot of years, so take the opportunity to see it in action. All said and done, it’s a great way to spend a Saturday morning, a great breakfast for just a buck, informative, visually educational and fun for all. Rain or shine, they’ve got a tent to keep the weather off of your head, they’ll be there so why don’t you all try and be there too.
Kilgus Farmstead – take Fairbury’s First Street south from the stop light on Route 24, about a mile, and just before the T intersection, on the west side of the road, you’ll see the farm and the tent. Turn in and enjoy!
