September Events

There are a variety of opportunities to get you out of the house and enjoy the excitement that surrounds the area around this time of year!  Here is a brief list of September events that will be going on in the Fairbury Area:

Saturday, September 5th – Fairbury American Legion Speedway – we’re still racing Folks and this is the Casey’s AMS Modified Nationals with another $10,000 winners prize – it’ll be a full field!

Monday, September 7th – Once ‘n Again is open on Labor Day!  Save 20% on your purchase!

Wednesday, September 9th – China Kitchen’s Surprise Buffet Item Day.  The China Kitchen Buffet – well, our favorite Fairbury Chinese Chef, Ziu-Ying Zheng (Wilson for short) is putting another chapter in his Agatha Christie “mystery series” with his “Surprise Buffet Dish Day” and the September installment is coming our way on Wednesday, September 9th.  This has turned into a popular twist to an already diversified and delicious Chinese Buffet that has more selections than any one plate can hold.  Wilson likes the mystique of the surprise and whatever it is that he is cooking up for this round you can rest assured that it will add an interesting addition to the appetite satisfying adventure that becomes a dining delight.  It’s all there and its all ready so stop in, pick up a plate and get yourself some or, get it to go – it works either way!

Friday & Saturday, September 11th & 12th – the Specialty Shops of Fairbury are coming at you again – this is their Fall Open House.

Saturday, September 12th – The Country Cupboard is having Donuts Day.

Monday, September 14th – Specialty Shops – got another extended hours Monday for you.

Monday, September 14th – Sunshine Fitness Center  – Hey Ladies, here comes the (normally) first Monday of the month – but because of Labor Day, this month it is the second (9/14) – it brings you that professional masseuse who can unkink, unwind, and undo those places on your physical person that need the relief.  This popular program for members is available on the first Monday of each month and it offers the relaxation and benefits of a professional massage that provides 15 minutes of comfort restoration for 15 dollars.  You can go up, do your workout, and let the masseuse loosen you up or, you can just go in and relax under the magic hands and fingers of someone who knows how to get it done for you.  Not a member but would like to check it out?  The Fitness Center is located at 127 West Locust Street, Fairbury, and their phone number is 815-692-4086 – check them out, this monthly program is only one of the benefits that comes with a regimented exercise program and the facility is geared for you Ladies only.  Their staff can help you develop a routine, answer your questions and get you on the road to being in shape and liking it.

Thursday, September 17th – Dave’s Supermarket of Fairbury is the place to be to see Justin Allgaier,  a real life NASCAR Sprint Cup driver, for a “meet and greet” session and you are all welcome to come up and say hello, get an autograph, inspect his No. 51 race car, & take some pictures.  Steidinger Meats will be grilling Pork Burgers and Hot Dogs and serving them with Potato Chips and Bottled Water free of charge

Thursday, September 17th – Fairbury Women’s Club sponsored “Meet & Greet” our Local Police Officers – 6-8pm

Wednesday to Friday, September 16, 17th, 18th – There will be a Community Clothing Exchange at the First Baptist Church, 701 N. 7th from 9-5.  This is not a sale, but an exchange.  Bring items you no longer want and get item you can use.  Items accepted for exchange are all clothing, shoes, purses, baby items and all linens.  No books or appliances. Everyone is welcome!

Friday, September 18th – Participate in Prairie Lands Foundation’s Pollinator Plantings Field Day at Dominy Library – 9am-noon.  Sponsored by Fugate Woods and Pheasants Forever.  Open to the public.  See www.fugatewoods.org for more details.

Saturday, September 19th – Annual Munzy Memorial Golf Tournament at Indian Creek Country Club.

Friday & Saturday, September 25th & 26th – it’s the Wabash Days Festival over in Forrest – got all kinds of special interest things happening for the whole family.

Friday & Saturday, September 25th & 26th – It’s the final 2015 All Town Garage Sale in Fairbury – last chance to sell or buy, for this year, in this well organized event sponsored by the Fairbury Women’s Club.   Also, the Friends of Dominy Library is holding their Fall Book Sale.

Saturday, September 26th – The Slagel Family Farm has it’s September installment of their Farm Tour & Dinner.

Sunday, September 27th – Vermillion Valley Show Chorus at the Walton Centre
