SILENT AUCTION – The Fairview Haven of Fairbury is into their “Harvest for Sharing” with the 28th Annual Benefit Supper and Silent Auction to be held on Friday, November 7th (see details for auction participation). This event has been instrumental in raising funds for the care and provisions of those in need through the Good Samaritan Fund of Fairview Haven and last year they were able to accumulate over $100,000 for this non-profit effort. The Silent Auction and Benefit Supper have combined to be the largest single source of upstanding care for those in need that the Good Samaritan Fund provides for and it gives the participants a very resourceful venue of items for bidding purchase as well as the opportunity to enjoy a very well prepared dinner that can be consumed in house or ordered as take out.
The Auction – you can find an updated list of items available on line at Fairview Haven Harvest of Sharing Auction and Supper or by checking the auction page at Fairview Haven Retirement Community There is an auction shopping service available and they also have a Phone-A-Bid or Email-A-Bid opportunity open for those who would like to make bids from off site. The organizers have set up a special e-mail address at email@example.com for folks to register and to place bids if you want to do it electronically. You can also call 815-692-2572, ask for Sally, Anna, Rick or Dave, and register by phone as well as place your bids if you like the old fashioned way (you know, the way we used to do it back in the day). The e-mail and phone bidding will be closed as of 2:00pm on Friday although on-site bidding will run until 7:30 that evening. For your convenience you can use Master Card, Visa, or Discover Card for purchases or, donations which, of course, are gratefully accepted. All donations are tax deductible and will be acknowledged with a “tax receipt” for your records. Donations can be initiated with the regular e-mail address of Fairview@Route24.net or by calling the phone number listed above.
The Benefit Supper features grilled pork loin and chicken quarters and your choice includes accompaniments of baked potato, green beans, fruit salad, dinner roll, beverage and your choice of some very reputable home made pies. The meats are five star quality and done in the grill masters own special marinade – its a meal you’ll remember with a contented smile, even if you over-do, so have at it! Fairview Haven is located at 605 North 4th Street in Fairbury and the dinner will be served from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, November 7th and, you can choose to enjoy it in their main dining room or have it packaged up to carry out. One special note: Anyone who is looking to share a meal with residents are asked to register in advance with Debbie Getty by October 29th.
All the proceeds from these combined events sponsored through the “Harvest of Sharing” will be designated for The Good Samaritan Fund of Fairview Haven which has been established to help cover the monthly Medicaid shortfall for those needing the care provided. Its a good cause, run by good people who are taking care of good people so give them a boost and you can join the ranks of the “good” people too. Contributions to the Silent Auction are welcomed and will be accepted through October 31st – don’t be bashful, help make this years efforts as successful as they should be. Remember, today’s Senior Citizens are yesterday’s Youngsters and today’s Youngsters are tomorrows Senior Citizens so help keep the line moving and when tomorrow comes, you’ll have another “feel good moment” to bring with you.
