The excitement of one of dirt track racing’s premiere events is coming to The American Legion Speedway at the Fairgrounds in Fairbury – the UMP Summer Nationals racing tour will be making its annual appearance at the raceway on Saturday, June 21st.
The feature race for that evening’s program will a be a 50 lap late model adventure for the Summer Nationals Competitors with a $10,000 purse on the line so you know that all the top names are going to be present and putting their skills to work chasing each other around the track with a no holds barred enthusiasm.
This grueling program of high stakes dirt track racing makes its way through nine states from June 11th to July 19th and Fairbury’s racing program plays host to one of the largest winning purses on the tour so the attraction is there and it will bring the thrills and excitement that goes with it. The evening program will have its normal racing schedule of heats keeping you race fans entertained as the apprehension and expectation builds towards the evenings capper in the renown feature event that will have a lot of today’s racing legends giving you your money’s worth.
Come on out and enjoy one of the summer’s great entertainment opportunities – the Fairbury American Legion Speedway, located on the Fairbury Fair Grounds at the town’s central south end, has everything you need from vantage point seating and spectator areas to food and all sorts of accommodating libations.
The Fairbury Speedway is a quarter mile semi-banked dirt track that has been designated three times as the UMP Dirt Car Track of the Year so it has the credentials to give the drivers and the fans an upscale racing experience. If you’re a fan of racing and you like big names and big purses this is a chance for you area enthusiasts to enjoy a very popular event right in your own backyard so bring yourself out and about to the Fairgrounds, the Raceway, and an evening that’s bound to satisfy the “need for speed” (just make sure that the speed deed is done on the track and not on the city streets cause there aren’t any checkered flags outside the Fair Ground gates).
