Here comes Summer – school is out and the pool is open!
Fairbury shines with family fun this summer and North Park is the place to be. Kids can slide, swing and climb at the playground, you can shoot hoops or practice your serve at the basketball and tennis courts. When the heat gets too much – take a dip, Family Pool Passes are available for Stafford Pool. Planning a picnic or reunion? North Park offers 4 pavilions, including one that is enclosed.
Get back to nature this summer and hike Fugate Woods Nature Preserve. Enjoy wildflowers and wildlife under the shaded Oak and Hickory canopy. With over 150 acres of native timber and restored prairie, Fugate Woods Nature Preserve is just 2 1/2 miles northeast of Fairbury. Trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Take your dog, leashed ones are welcomed.
Up for a game of golf? Conveniently located off U.S. Route 24, Indian Creek Golf Course is a 9-hole, public course that is easy to walk with Oak trees lining the fairways. Indian Creek flows through the course and comes into play on a number of holes. The golf course is complimented with Divot’s Grill that offers food, beverages, and banquet facilities.
Knee high by the 4th of July! Rows of corn and soybeans (usually) flourish in summer. Take a scenic drive through Fairbury’s farmlands, not only will you see corn and beans (hopefully!), but also sunflowers, cows, goats, sheep, and possibly a rainbow or two!
