FAIRBURY, IL – Hey Race Fans – Get on your marks, get set, get ready – here comes the 2016 dirt track racing season at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway. Got a couple of “toe in the water” events on the docket that will take the edge off and “prime the pump” so to speak – back to back Saturdays, April 9th & April 16th, they’ve got the annual start of the season “Test and Tune Practice” that will be up and going from noon to 3:00 pm on each of those Saturdays. Admission to the public is free so it would be a great time to come out and watch these summer daredevils go through some practice paces and, you can also take in the renovations that have been made to the bleachers and the rest rooms – good looking changes that make the facility more user friendly. All in all they’ve got another magical season of heart stopping quarter mile dirt track racing that always seems to live up to the old cliche, “with a cloud of dust and a hearty hi you Silver” – each race has the Lone Ranger crossing the line first. Big names, big cash prizes, and a facility that can make it happen for you – parking, food, drink, plenty of seating, and, obviously, a way to use up some adrenaline. Opening night is Saturday, April 23rd, with a full racing program and it just starts getting better from there.
The Speedway is located inside the Fairbury Fair Grounds and there are entrances at the extreme south end of Third Street and also straight across the way at south First Street. You can check out their website fairburyspeedway.com for additional details but, listed above is what you need to get the season started with so, let the clutch out cause the fan won’t pull it!
