FAIRBURY, IL – The Kilgus Farmstead has become renown for it’s dairy and farm products and their reach has extended far beyond the Fairbury Community borders. Their presence in Chicago-Land was seen first hand by one of our own when she visited her daughter in down town Chicago a few days ago. Ellen Groce had gone up to see her daughter Sam, who works as a pastry chef at Boka’s which is one of Chicago’s many upscale restaurants, and they were having some breakfast at Florial, one of Sam’s favorite places to indulge in such. It is a bakery/eatery and they happened to notice on the chalk board that listed the specials, etc. that the Florial used Kilgus milk in their baked goods. For these two ladies it was a “two for” because Sam’s work place, Boka, also uses Kilgus milk as their dairy main stay. Most of us go through our daily lives down here with no real perception of how a part of Fairbury’s local family business makes its way into markets that, in turn, serves literally thousands of people in far off places. Kilgus Farmstead, making a name for themselves and Fairbury in a very prestigious “big city” atmosphere while continuing to provide for the local community in a consistently effective way with an exclusive program of products and service. It should be noted that they supply several of the finer establishments in the Chicago area and have for many years now which is testimony in itself to the stellar reputation that they have in their markets. Way to go Kilgus’ and, thanks Ellen and Sam for getting a first hand observation back to where it all comes from.
