FAIRBURY, IL – Surprise – everybody loves a good one. How about one that you can eat – nice reward for being a successful “mystery” investigator, isn’t it. Our friends at the China Kitchen, up on Fairbury’s Main Street, are continuing with their “Surprise Buffet Item” day and have another one on the calendar for Wednesday, March 18th. The main man Wilson (his nick name) will be reaching into his extensive Mandarin style cooking repertoire and preparing another appealing surprise item – he’s also holding firm to his plan and not giving any hints as to what we might expect although, last month’s item was absolutely delicious – well worth trying.
Of course you don’t have to wait until March 18th to investigate this buffet of renown cuisine because they are open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday every week and the food is ready to find its way onto your plate. You can also get it to go if you want to just grab it and head back to the office or take it home to the family – call in advance to 815-692-3976 or just pop in and fill up a couple of go boxes yourself.
It’s good food, a comfortable arrangement in seating and buffet, a unique variety of cold and hot items, and easy to put a meal together without waiting on the kitchen to fix it. Ziu-Ying Zheng (aka Wilson) and his family and staff are friendly, energetic, and efficient and the menu gives everyone using it a great escape from the mundane everyday stuff so many of us get trapped with – give em’ a try and see what we’re talking about and make a note, if you like Mandarin cooking you’re bound to enjoy the “surprise!”
