Doc’s Drugs & Pharmacy – Fairbury’s local facility, located on the east edge of Fairbury on Route 24, has a couple of programs on the calendar for the near future that are designed to inform their interested customers on health issues and to provide information that will help you get healthy or stay healthy.
First we have a “Smoking Cessation” forum/class that is given by Pharmacist Julie and provides a structured plan for stopping smoking. If you’re one of those procrastinators who need a nudge to accomplish this difficult goal here’s the place to get it. The forum is open to the public, its free and, taken seriously, can be a very helpful step in your efforts to become an ex-smoker. The current event is scheduled for Tuesday, January 6th, at 2:00pm (lasts about a half hour) and will be conducted there in the store – give it a go, it could be just what the doctor ordered.
Second, there is the ongoing program of HealthChek – this is a great way to get an inside look at your body’s functional status through a combination of blood tests. It’s a blood work program that costs approximately $400 in private practice but is being made available, via this special program, for $50. The basic blood profile that the tests provide are a comprehensive metabolic profile, a complete blood count, and a lipid panel – the results are generally available in 3 to 5 days and you will receive a printout that will alert you of any problems and can be put on file with your personal doctor. For additional details you can check the Doc’s website or give the program a call at 800-915-4583. If you’re interested you’ll need to call that toll free number for an appointment – appointments need to made through the program headquarters and not with the Doc’s facility. Our Fairbury store has two dates on the up and coming, the first is Tuesday, December 24th and the second is Friday, January 23rd and the time frame for both days is 9:00am to 11:00am. Blood work is a key element to making appropriate health evaluations and many a problem has been caught early as a result of these comprehensive tests so, give it a try – even if you’re feeling good its just icing on the cake to get confirmation of your well being and the $50 is as good as it gets for costs.
Of course, you can visit Doc’s anytime, they’ve got a lot of great merchandise out there as well as the pharmaceutical services and photo development services – take a look and see for yourself – its a whole lot more than just “medicine”. Got your flu shot yet – they’ve got them – better safe than sorry. Plenty of convenient parking, a friendly helpful staff, and plenty to window shop with – see you there.
