The GFWC of Fairbury is sponsoring a mid-summer coalition to once again harness the individual garage/yard sale power of the town into an organized presentation aimed at proving that one person’s excess is another person’s treasure.
For those of you who would like to use this opportunity to maybe empty those shelves, cupboards, attics, basements, garages, sheds, closets, and drawers of all that accumulated “don’t need it anymore” or, “didn’t need it in the first place” stuff, so you can avoid having to move to a bigger house, then here’s your chance.
For you sellers you can register your bargaining endeavors for the nominal fee of $10 which will get you some serious public advertising in the various news media outlets (there are at least 18 different publications that are utilized) used by the Women’s Club to put all the locations in a focused map of “here they are”. You need to contact Carol Ely in Fairbury at 815-692-2910, and she can give you the directions you need to make it happen and, you need to do that by the 20th of July. Don’t be a freeloader on this deal because the profits from those registry fees go directly to the Brian Munz Safety Complex here in Fairbury and that is a very good cause – do it the right way and get your location on the publicized list and map.
For you buyers or, you tourist type spectators, the fun begins on Friday July 25th at 9:00am and will reload again at 9am on Saturday so there is plenty of time to find those great bargains that only a garage sale can give you access to. Come on out and join the fun – its like a giant scavenger hunt and the game is at foot – find those things you need, find those things you don’t need, or, find those things that will get you started for having your own garage sale because there will be another one on the schedule for September. So, get registered by the 20th and get it sold or get on your horse on the 25th and 26th and get it bought – the only thing that is missing right now is you – so make it happen!
