DESCRIPTION:Garage Sales – that opportunity for private households to clean out their attics\, closets\, basements and garages and put dormant items back into circulation. You know what they say\, “one person’s junk is another person’s treasure” and that can be very true\, especially when you have a collaboration of organized residences banding together in one time frame to grab the attention of all you bargain hunters out there. \nSince junk and treasure are in the eyes of the beholder it’s generally understood that the vast majority of items being offered actually have a functional usage value like clothes\, kitchen ware\, tools\, and the like. No matter what the category you can pretty much depend on the fact that you’re probably going to get something you need (or don’t for that matter) for a fraction of its worth. \n Having set the stage with that intro let us introduce you to the Fairbury All Town Garage Sale. This massive registration of individual participants is orchestrated by a superb effort on the part of the General Federation Women’s Club spearheaded by Carol Ely and has been an operational success for many years now. \nThe GFWC has the spring time version of this event in place and it will be opening the starting gate at 9am on Friday\, April 25th and going until 6pm that evening and then continuing on Saturday\, the 26th\, from 9am to 3pm. Printed maps\, identifying the locations of the registered addresses throughout the Fairbury metropolis\, will be available at Dave’s Supermarket\, Once & Again\, Meyer’s Gifts\, Cascade Gardens\, Doc’s\, Hearts Desire\, Casey’s\, and McDonalds Family Restaurant and if you look at one you’ll notice over 50 spots available for visitation and treasure hunting. Join the expedition and get the things that you need or\, the things that you want or\, you can even start collecting for your own garage sale – it’s all going to be out there just waiting for you to come and get it! \n As a further note of interest\, these energetic ladies of the GFWC are putting together another grand collection of opportunities with a Summer Sale scheduled for July 25th and 26th and those dates have the additional draw to the area with the Prairie Dirt Classic racing event at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway. Put this one on your calendar and you can come out and do some “multi-tasking”.
