The Fairbury brochures are doing their job. In Arthur, Illinois, the small-town, peaceful, way of life attracts many folks to their area. Many of the retail shops in Arthur have agreed to display our Fairbury brochures. Periodically, the shops in Fairbury hear that a new visitor found the brochure at a shop in Arthur.
Recently, a group of approximately nine Amish ladies traveled to Fairbury to explore the attractions and shops on the Fairbury brochure. This was prompted because one of the ladies owns a shop and displays our brochure.
“One of the ladies told me that she was up since 4:30am in anticipation to visiting Fairbury on Saturday morning,” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops.
“They stopped by the majority of our shops, went to Kilgus Farmstead, and enjoyed lunch at Lost in Time. They also were interested in stopping by Cascade Garden so the Gehrings opened their farm for viewing,” continues Bobbi.
“Some of the other shops may have stories about what happened during their visit to Fairbury, and that can be an article for another week! Now these ladies have firsthand experience in seeing and experiencing Fairbury so they can speak to their own visitors about our small community,” says Bobbi.
This is the goal of having our brochures distributed far and wide. Welcoming new folks into our town helps provide that good experience that will spread the word.
“We appreciate every person who takes the time to come and experience what we have. Maybe they will come back with someone else (or a group)!” concludes Bobbi.
