The Blade – Winter Blues “Pop” in Fairbury

It is common knowledge that January is often a slow month for retail. With the joyous holidays past and the “winter blues” setting in, folks like to stay home and snuggle in.

However, in Fairbury, so much is going on, we don’t find time to let the winter blues set in! There are events each week, streets are busy and folks are visiting Fairbury.

Diane Pawlowski, owner of Antiques and Uniques, recently had a customer from Flanagan who came to Fairbury to have her car serviced at K&S. K&S provided her with a loaner car so she could visit the shops.

“This extra service provided their customer with a more pleasant experience in addition to making their customer one of our customers, too,” Diane says.

Another out-of-town shopper visited Heart’s Desire recently. They had a loaner car from Petersens! Many thanks to our auto dealerships for providing this service so that the customers can visit retail shops while they are waiting!

Yes, Fairbury is a great place to visit. The last week of January is here!   Be sure to participate in this week’s events.

Dave Supermarket is having a 4-Day ‘Super’ Weekend Sale. People come from a large radius to shop at Dave’s!

The Specialty Shops Group is holding a fun event on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 30th & 31st). Join in on the “Winter Blues to the Moon” event. Go shop Fairbury. Watch for blue balloons! Many shops have specials and discounts. Some are offering a “pop a balloon for a discount.”

“We like to have fun,” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire, and coordinator of the Specialty Shops group. “Bringing folks to town – so that restaurants, shops and service businesses benefit – that’s our goal!”
