The Specialty Shops of Fairbury held an event on Friday and Saturday, January 30th and 31st. It was a “blue” event with blue balloons, blue food, and blue products. The goal was to create some excitement during a time of year when it is easy to feel “blue” – after the holidays and during the cold winter months.
Diane Pawlowski, owner of Antiques and Uniques said, “Blues Blasted! Two very good sales days helped to blast my blues to the moon! So glad that the weather cooperated, too. There were lots of new faces in the store stating that they’d definitely be back. A successful event!”
“Our weekend was phenomenal!” said Once ‘n Again owner, Traci Hassett.
Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire commented, “We had a very good Friday & Saturday. We are very pleased, and we appreciate the support from the community.”
Balloons were flying all over Fairbury. Some shops offered “pop-a-balloon-for-a-discount;” others had special tables with deep discounts, some shops had samples available. A great weekend!
A week or so ago, Diane also had a couple in the store from Decatur who thought it would be a good day to take a drive. They had previously found the Fairbury brochure in the Korean Museum in Springfield so they decided to set their destination for the day as Fairbury.
Diane comments, “I think the brochures are really helping to put Fairbury “on the map.” Whenever new visitors would remark how interesting/nice/special Fairbury is, I used to remark that it was the best-kept secret of Livingston County. Not any more!”
Fairbury brochures have been distributed to over 350 places throughout the State, including welcome centers, attractions, hotels, restaurants, gas stations, etc. This includes over 75 cities or towns. We are spreading the word!
