Looking into a new year is almost always exciting, and 2016 is no exception! With all that was accomplished in 2015, we are poised to make even more things happen in this New Year.
Next Tuesday, January 12th, at 7pm, the City will be holding another session to continue the discussion of the revitalization of our community. Many area residents and community leaders have been attending previous meetings. As with all brainstorming sessions, lots of people are needed to bring out ideas – the more minds, the better. Everyone is encouraged to attend to be a part of this historic planning “in the making!”
Many ideas and projects are in the planning stages, but there are more ideas and projects to be discussed. The winter months are a perfect time to be planning for implementation in the springtime and better weather.
Do you have any ideas or brainstorms about:
- Family events for Fairbury?
- New businesses you would like to see in town?
- Different attractions which might bring in more visitors?
- Interesting activities to engage children or seniors?
- Enhancements to existing buildings or structures?
- Fun stories to share from our community’s history?
Come with excitement and bring your ideas! Mark your calendar for next Tuesday, January 12th.
“Everyone is encouraged to join in,” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire Antiques & Accents and coordinator of Specialty Shops Group. “Some folks are concerned that if they come they will feel committed to projects and putting in time that they don’t feel like they have. However, now – at this time, many of the projects are still in the “thinking” stages, and we need everyone’s input and ideas.”
Bobbi continues, “We want to hear from everyone, as this community belongs to each and every one who lives and/or works here. We are all blessed to be a part of it. Let’s come together to plan for an even better future!”
As always, call Bobbi McKeon at (815) 692-4500 or email fairbury@fairburyILattractions.com with any stories, ideas or suggestions for interesting topics to write for our community.
