The Blade – More Thoughts about the Survey Results

As we review the survey results, we are thinking… “What can we do to respond to some of the ideas, suggestions, and opinions expressed through the survey sponsored by the Fairbury Planning Commission?”

The number one item that pops off the page immediately in the answers to the first question is that beautifying the City is of great importance to a lot of people. What exactly does this mean?

Some of the answers come in the second question with responses like, “More flowers and plants, streetscapes, updating façade on buildings, fixing sidewalks, etc.” Could some of these ideas be implemented immediately?

The tree box project along Locust Street sponsored by Chamber members is a great start! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone could pull together a group of volunteers to help augment this project to other areas, too? This is the perfect time to be planting flowers and adding to the beauty of our downtown and along Route 24.

Chatsworth has given their downtown a real face-lift. “If you have a chance, run over there and take a look,” says Bobbi McKeon, coordinator of the Specialty Shops group. “Beautifying our town will help in attracting people, and it will make our residents feel proud.”

“Projects like this can be great fun!” says Bobbi McKeon. “Even though it will take work, in the end, what a great thing for Fairbury!”
