Recently, the Blade published the annual Business Honor Roll, displaying local companies and how long they have been in business.
For a community the size of Fairbury, there are a lot of businesses that have substantial longevity. Of those businesses that chose to participate, the honor roll shows five are 90 years old or older! There are an additional ten businesses 50 years old or older. This is pretty incredible.
“These businesses are a big part of what makes Fairbury a great place to live.” says Diane Pawlowski, owner of Antiques & Uniques. “They are the protein in the nutrition of our economic climate and our specialty shops are the dessert!”
It would be interesting to hear what some of the businesses have to say about the secrets to their success, the business climate in Fairbury, etc.
“We would like to quote some business owners who would be willing to share with us,” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops group. “I welcome businesses to email fairbury@fairburyILattractions.com or contact me with your thoughts and secrets. This could be very helpful to existing businesses and possibly to those folks who are thinking about establishing a business locally.”
Also, as always, everyone should feel welcome to stop by Heart’s Desire, call Bobbi McKeon at (815) 692-4500 or email fairbury@fairburyILattractions.com with any stories, ideas or suggestions for interesting topics to write for our community.
