This coming weekend is a big weekend in Fairbury, centered around the 64th Annual Fairbury Community Sale which is sponsored by the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce. This community sale always brings a large number of folks to town.
Each year during the Community Sale, the downtown Main (Locust) Street fills up with treasures and junk! Starting at 10:00am, this assemblage of items for home, garden, yard, shop and driveway will be going up for grabs. Spotted throughout this auctioning battleground are also things with feathers, fur, and green foliage plus a host of miscellaneous that can challenge the imagination and all of it will be staged on Fairbury’s Main Street (Locust Street).
This sale can actually be classified as a buyers/sellers holiday so get yourself a number at the registration desk in the Chamber of Commerce office (the historic City Hall) on the corner of Third and Locust (also right there on Main Street) and join the adventure!
The Specialty Shops are open and ready for buyers right alongside the community sale. With shoppers in town, starting on Friday, May 1st, the shops are holding a pre-Mother’s Day sale and some have a $2 Tag Event going on in their stores. Be sure to stop by Antiques & Uniques, Cascade Gardens, Country Cupboard, Dave’s Supermarket, Heart’s Desire Antiques & Accents, Kilgus Farmstead Country Store, Lost in Time/Lost Arts, Meyer’s Gifts & Services, Nature’s Designs Floral Gallery, Once ‘n Again, Serendipity Cards & Gifts, and The Spotted Owl who are participating in this Big Weekend’s activities.
Cascade Gardens recently opened with a great start for the spring planting seasons. They will be holding their big Open House this weekend with their greenhouses filled with wonderful flowers, plants, hanging baskets and more!
Indian Creek Market will be debuting its very first craft and vendor sale at the Westview Elementary School grounds in Fairbury on Saturday, May 2nd as well from 8am – 2pm. Go check out this newly created market of local crafters and vendors selling new/used items! Sponsored by Indian Creek Realty, this market will be held the first Saturday of the month – May through October.
