The FCCLA is a national Career and Technical Student Organization that provides personal growth, leadership development, and career preparation opportunities for students in Family and Consumer Sciences education. Everyone is part of a family, and FCCLA is the ONLY national Career and Technical Student Organization with the family as its central focus.
Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Prairie Central’s FCCLA chapter is one of 5,500 active chapters in the 50 states. Chapter projects focus on a variety of youth concerns, including teen pregnancy, parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, environment, nutrition and fitness, teen violence, and career exploration. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life — planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal communication — necessary in the home and workplace.
Our Prairie Central FCCLA chapter is traveling to National Conference in Washington, DC this year with 14 qualifying delegates and a newly elected State Officer! These young men and women who qualified at State Conference in Springfield in April, have worked all year on their STAR events. STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) recognize members for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.
Friends of FCCLA is an alumni/family member based organization that was formed in 2010 to assist the adviser and the Prairie Central FCCLA members. They work closely with the organization by helping raise money for leadership activities and helping organize, chaperone and work at their events.
Friends of FCCLA Board Members include, Jeannea Shier, Jamie Nowak, Tracy Fogarty, Dawn Meiss, Rachel Vercler, Kelli Bell, Lexi Nagel, Bryce Nowak and Savannah Shores (student representative). Questions can be forwarded to Jamie Nowak at email@example.com
Help support this worthy organization! Come out and view these beautiful homes and kitchens in an effort to support our Prairie Central FCCLA chapter and its national delegates. These young adults work hard and are making a difference in the lives of others!
“Events such as these are great for the entire area, bringing folks to town, and making our communities fun places to live, work and play,” says Bobbi McKeon, coordinator of the Specialty Shops.
