Test Your Fairbury History Trivia Skills!

Want to have some fun with history – as in Fairbury’s History?  The Fairbury Echoes Museum is sponsoring a History Trivia Night that promises to be fun for just about anyone, especially history buffs.  It is localized history, as in Fairbury, but what a great way to not only share what you know while hearing what others can offer that you didn’t – especially the “folks in the know” that are running the show.

The goal here is support for the Museum and the tickets are $10 per person.  The program is being offered as a sort of competition, they ask the questions and the audience answers.  You can play as a team or go solo and the event is shaping up to be a lot of fun in addition to being an informative learning experience, especially for the younger residents.

“The museum’s board members enjoyed coming up with five questions for each of the ten topics and we all learned some new history ourselves,” according to museum Secretary Diane Pawlowski.  She also added that names will be drawn at random for prizes throughout the evening so, even if a team or solo player finds the questions too difficult, they might still go home with a prize.

The event will be held at the Indian Creek Country Club in their upstairs banquet room and tickets can be purchased in advance at Dave’s Supermarket, Antiques & Uniques, or at the Museum (see below for museum hours) – all in Fairbury – or, you can purchase them at the door.

The program starts at 7:00pm and there will be snacks and beverages provided along with door prizes, and it all happens on Saturday, September 9th.  Bring the family, have some fun, and see what kind of history trivia comes to light in regards to this great town we live in – it’s pretty much a sure thing that you’re going to hear some things that will surprise you!

“Here is another fun event for our small town.  Thanks to the volunteers at Fairbury Echoes for putting this together!” said Bobbi McKeon owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops group.

Besides encouraging folks to attend this Trivia Event, Mary Catherine Carter, president of Fairbury Echoes Museum, encourages everyone to stop by the museum saying, “Come to the museum to study up!  Get an edge on your competition.  The museum is open Thursday and Friday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:30 pm and Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 11:30 am. We’re looking forward to a very enjoyable evening!”

“On another note, Cornell Days is going on this weekend – September 8 -10th.  We see Cornell folks at our events.  Think about attending theirs!  Visiting other towns’ events is another way to work together and help each of our small communities!” concludes Bobbi.
