At a recent Fairbury Improvement Group meeting, more detail for the Marsh Park Grand Re-open was announced.
In 2017 under the volunteer direction of Dale Maley with the help of many other volunteers and financial support from businesses, individuals and Prairie Lands Foundation, Marsh Park underwent major renovating in the hopes that it will give a new life to the park. The park, which had declined in activity over the years, is ready for a reenergized group of park goers. The Re-Opening Dedication is set to take place on July 28, 2018.
This family-friendly event is going to be jam-packed full of fun activities for all ages. The ceremony will likely kick off with a golf cart parade that will go down the usual parade path and get the entire town buzzing. The event will also feature speakers that were key to the park restoration. Several bands are being discussed to play at the rededication with a high profile band in the selection as a possibility.
There will be large quantity of local food vendors to add local flavors to the event with the activities and entertainment will be the “bread and butter” of the entire celebration. With entertainment for all ages, expect to have fun with fellow citizens throughout the day. There will be several displays as well including a car show, small engine display, and antique tractors.
The Rededication ceremony at Marsh Park is not one you will want to miss. Plan to come on out and have a great time as we celebrate Fairbury and one of its finest parks.
“Mark your calendars for this exciting event,” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops Group. “If you can help out on the day of the event, plan to attend the next Fairbury Improvement Group meeting on March 20, 2018 at New City Hall, as the group will be continuing its discussion.”
