Local Events Beat Winter Blues

In the winter months, when not much is going on and local communities seem to be moving a bit slower than usual, a great way to get out of the house and still remain active is to attend local events and help contribute to your community in an important way and January’s events give you the reason to do just that.

Once n’ Again continues to make a major impact in helping communities. Their annual Food and Necessity Drive is this month. The 16th installment of the drive occurs January 16th-January 31st. By helping those in need, you also win with discounts through January 31st.

There are several items that are in major need locally right now.

• Beef stew, chili, any meal in a can, or peanut butter
• Soup (any flavor), meat in a can (any kind)
• Wrapped bath tissue, laundry soap, shampoo, body wash, 3 pack bar soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, or deodorant

These items will come with a 20% discount coupon off one item in the store. Items not on this select list will still be accepted but will not come with a discount coupon. Once n’ Again will then deliver the items to the local food pantries. This is a perfect way to give back to your community and save on great items at Once n’ Again in the process.

Another interesting event coming up this weekend (Saturday, January 20th) is the “Allergy/Gluten Free Day” at Country Cupboard. You or someone in your family may have a sensitivity to gluten or another food allergy. This is a perfect event for you. Invite your friends who may be interested as there is something for everyone – discounts, samples and a $5 lunch! Lots of snacks and samples are on the menu, and they are free of the most popular allergens. So go hungry. Taste Brownies, Mac ‘n Cheese, and other snacks. For those with eating preferences such as Low Carb or No Sugar, they have samples for you too. Check out their blog for the details!

“Events like these help liven up our days! Go enjoy and know that you are benefiting our small communities as well as yourself!” says Bobbi owner of Heart’s Desire Antiques & Accents and coordinator of the Specialty Shops group.
