Local Events and Area Brochures Bring Folks to Town

We just heard another story about brochures bringing folks to town. The new Livingston County brochures are now in approximately 100 hotels south of Chicago.

Rebekah Fehr, executive director of the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce, reported that she had a few guys stop by with the County brochures saying they are scouting the area to bring their wives down. This is great news! Hopefully, the news will get out even more as to what a great area we have here.

The recent Dave’s Pig-out Appreciation is always a great event that draws people from all over. It is also such a nice community affair where we can enjoy good company and fellowship. This weekend’s events will also bring more people to Fairbury.

The Speedway has the Bob Allen Memorial Late Model Special running on Saturday. This is a $2000 to win race. Expect folks from all over to come and enjoy.

Sponsored by the GFWC IL – Fairbury Woman’s Club, the Citizen of the Year award will take place on Friday (June 17th) at 7pm at North Park with a presentation to Roger McDowell. This is the 30th award since the program started. Congratulations, Mr. McDowell! A big thank you to the Women’s Club for sponsoring this event.

Also on Friday, don’t miss RD’s Day at Lost in Time! This is always a big hit – another huge community event where folks can reminisce about the “olden days” when RD’s had their drive-in on Route 24. Go for lunch and/or dinner!

“We have so much to be thankful for in our small town,” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops. “Often, we hear this from outsiders – our town is truly amazing!”

As always, if you have any stories, ideas or suggestions for interesting topics about our community, please stop by Heart’s Desire, call Bobbi McKeon at (815) 692-4500 or email fairbury@fairburyILattractions.com.
