On a recent winter day, with the wind blowing and the snow falling, not very many people were out and about. The day was also unusual at Antiques and Unique in Fairbury, where there was an interesting reversal in the eyes of business owner, Diane Pawlowski.
That day, the majority of customers were men, which led Pawlowski to later remark, “Although we try to have something for everyone and about 40% of our customers are men, it seemed that only men were hardy enough to make the journey out in the bitter cold that day.”
In particular, two men stopped in whose wives were shopping at Once n’ Again. On this cold day, these pairs of spouses made their way out to Fairbury, all the way from the Kankakee area. This was not an accident either, the group makes visits to Fairbury quite regularly, mentioning that with all the destinations to offer, it is just a very worthwhile stop.
The group mentioned specific items at the Country Cupboard they like, as well as stating how great Lost in Time and Kilgus Dairy were at their excellent craft. They were even planning to finally try the Meat Shop that day, where they were surely treated to a wonderful meal.
“It’s really great that visitors can find so many businesses in Fairbury where it makes the drive worth it” concludes Pawlowski. This short story speaks volumes to the quality of businesses in Fairbury and hopes for continued excellence.
