This upcoming weekend is another exciting one in Fairbury: Even with the Sprint Mania race canceled, Fairbury is bursting with activities for this Mania Weekend! From cars to crafts, everyone in the family can find something fun to do around town.
The excitement starts with the Specialty Shops of Fairbury’s Chocolate Mania event! Satisfy your sweet tooth by visiting stores all over Fairbury on Friday, October 5th, and Saturday, 6th. Each store has unique items, gifts, food, furniture, collectibles, and clothing as well as a special chocolatey treat.

Are you a car enthusiast? Do you have a hot rod, race car, or an antique car, truck, or motorcycle? Then you’re in luck! The Mania Cruise-In is being held in downtown Fairbury from 9 am till 3 pm on October 6th. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to show off your vintage vehicles and earn 10% off breakfast and lunch at Lost in Time, Gigs Place, and the Meat Shoppe.
The Dominy Library has a new Head Librarian, and Fairbury is giving her a warm welcome! The library is holding a Welcome Reception for Amanda Todd on Saturday, October 6th, from 10 am to noon. From drawings to prizes to crafts and refreshments, there are fun activities for adults and kids alike. You won’t want to pass up this exciting celebration!
On another note, the Fairbury Improvement Group (FIG) met on September 18 to discuss past and present developments around the Fairbury area. At this meeting, FIG covered a potential project list for 2019 and discussed other successful citizens improvement groups in other towns. FIG wants to take steps that benefit our community in the best way possible. The citizens of Fairbury can help contribute in multiple ways, including participating in a survey possibly coming in the future to improve the town. Currently, the survey is being drafted by a few member of the FIG group.
If you want to attend a FIG meeting, they are held monthly and are open to the public. The next meeting will be held on October 23 at 7 pm in the New City Hall basement. All are welcome!
