This coming weekend is the FFA Farm and Home Show in Forrest at the Upper Elementary School gymnasium. Historically, this event is a big one for our communities, and it sounds like it will be a big one again this year.
The FFA does a great job of bringing businesses in to showcase what they do. The food is great, the crowds are phenomenal, and it is a fun place to be. Probably the best part is the feeling of camaraderie between our communities, our businesses, and our residents.
“Our specialty shops will be represented at the Fairbury Attractions booth at the FFA Farm & Home Show,” says Bobbi McKeon, coordinator of the Specialty Shops group in Fairbury. “Most of us shop owners cannot get away for a whole day and therefore are unable to set up our own booths. However, some of our group is going to showcase what we and the other area attractions are doing. It is great being a part of such a wonderful community.
“Also, you may have noticed placemats in some of the local restaurants. Each month, we hope to showcase a special attraction in our community, along with providing the special events for the month. “Keep these placemats, as they are “limited” editions, and someday may be part of our community history!” encourages Bobbi.
Don’t forget to attend the Prairie Central FFA Farm & Home Show in Forrest at the U-E gymnasium on Saturday, February 27th. The show starts at 9am and runs until 4pm. They will be serving pork burger and pork chop sandwiches continuously from 11am to 4pm. Cheesy potatoes, green beans, dessert with ice cream are included with the meal. Don’t miss out!
Supporting local events and organizations are critical to keeping our communities alive. Go out and enjoy this event with hundreds of other folks from around the area!
