We are at the beginning of the season with Spring in the air and folks feel like getting out and doing things! Events help bring folks into town, and we have several this month helping do just that!
Dave’s BIG Meat Sale this past week is huge for Fairbury. Folks come from far and wide to enjoy the great bargains. Thanks to Dave’s and the Dave’s Team for putting together such a great event and helping the other area businesses by bringing folks to shop and visit!
On Saturday, April 8th, Chatsworth was the host of the 2nd annual Bluebird Festival. Sponsored by the Citizens’ Advisory Board of Chatsworth, this event held at the American Legion was fun and interesting as so many residents are jumping on board to attract more bluebirds to our area. Students and teachers who participated in erecting bluebird houses were recognized. This year, the Tri-Point Schools got involved, and students setup 120 bluebird houses in the Cullom, Kemption, Cabery, and Stelle communities!
Viewing the decorations and banners on the walls and the tables at the Chatsworth American Legion was a neat experience in itself. Chatsworth grade schools students researched bluebirds, and each class created a piece of art. Their artwork was very special – something to keep for a lifetime.
It is great when communities work together. Big things happen when folks join forces and work for the common good. Not only do those participating benefit, but also, the whole community.
“Another great example of communities cooperating and pulling together is the Annual SELCAS Pancake and Sausage breakfast this coming Saturday, April 15th at Indian Creek Country Club. “Go out and enjoy while supporting a worthy cause,” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops Group.
“SELCAS serves Fairbury, Forrest, Chatsworth, Chenoa, Strawn, and Wing. Folks come from all over to volunteer and attend this event to support our local ambulance service, which we believe is the greatest in the world!” Bobbi concludes. “As I have said before, we live in some of the greatest communities in the world, too!”
As always, if you have any stories, ideas or suggestions for interesting topics about our community, please stop by Heart’s Desire, call Bobbi McKeon at (815) 692-4500 or email fairbury@fairburyILattractions.com
