If you like food, then A Local Taste could be “the” event for you! It will be held at Sunken Park (downtown Fairbury) on Saturday, September 21st, from 11 am to 3 pm for local cuisine, music, and more!
A Local Taste, hosted by the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce, showcases the area’s farmers, restaurants, and businesses specializing in food. By bringing the entire food industry together, it’s an opportunity to get to know the people behind the businesses. It also allows people to discover and taste-test delectable food!
With the wide variety of food available, you can feast like a king on a four-course meal! Start with an assortment of sandwiches: Italian beef, pulled pork, smoked burgers, and gyros, to name a few. If that doesn’t tickle your taste buds, order some Mexican cuisine, a walking taco, or pork fritters. Don’t forget to sample the selection of jellies and salsas. For dessert, savor a bite of pie, Texas cake, or a cupcake.
While you are chowing down, there will be music by the band Horizon, admire the antique tractors on show, or play a game of bingo.
You can keep your kids busy with an inflatable obstacle course, a life-size Connect 4, and a dunk tank (fundraiser for the Chamber)!
Specialty Shops coordinator Bobbi McKeon says, “Bonding is best over food, so invite your friends and family to A Local Taste! Between the food and fun activities, there’s a lot for folks to enjoy.”
