Don’t miss the Fairbury Improved Group (FIG)’s meeting next Tuesday, April 24th at 7pm at the New City Hall.
Now that Spring is finally here (is it?!), the 2018 plans for Fairbury developed by FIG will be starting soon to go into the implementation stages! A lot has already been discussed, and plans have been developed.
“There are exciting things happening and a few NEW projects need some help to move things along. Vendor Fairs, Junk in the Trunk, and activities during the Big Race weekends are open for discussion!” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops Group.
“There are some volunteers who are looking for helpers. If you are open to volunteering for the community, your help would be greatly appreciated. Please attend the meeting to get the details!” said Bobbi.
Big projects are also in the works:
Repainting the 1882 Archer House Building sign is a big one on the list. After doing a substantial amount of historical building research by Dale Maley, he has obtained permission from the building’s owner to begin painting this spring. This will be another nice signage addition on Main Street.
Also, as we said before, a plan is in place to install a ramp for access to Sunken Park, as there is no current ramp access for the events that take place there throughout the year. The ramp is planned at the NE corner (Locust & 5th). The City has already put dirt in place, ready to start work… hopefully soon!
Marsh Park’s Grand Reopening is set for July 28th, 2018. Mark this on your calendar! This weekend will be a big weekend in Fairbury, as the Marsh Park event coincides with the Prairie Dirt Classic by FALS. The Grand Reopening will be a great kick-off for all the improvements made to Marsh Park over the past calendar year. A family-friendly event is planned. The event will include a golf cart parade as well as many children’s activities. There will also be live bands hired to perform. Attend the meeting on Tuesday to learn more!
“We really appreciate the hard work the FIG puts into improving our small community,” comments Bobbi McKeon. “Plan to attend this next meeting on Tuesday, April 24th at 7pm at the new City Hall.”
