On July 23rd at 3pm, go to Dominy Memorial Library to join entomologists Dr. Michael Jeffords and Susan Post who will share their expertise and skills in science and photography at the debut and signing of their new book, Curious Encounters with the Natural World, with 200 stunning photographs and their own insightful essays to guide readers on a spectacular journey. This is a FREE event sponsored by Prairie Lands Foundation!
Curious Encounters with the Natural World, is a journey of a lifetime through nature…The authors have circled the globe – and explored their neighborhood – collecting images of the natural world. This book opens their personal cabinet of curiosities to tell the stories of the pair’s most unusual encounters!
James B. Nardi, author of Life in the Soil: A Guide for Naturalists and Gardeners has this to say about this unique book, “Sitting down with this collection of tales is setting off on a series of adventures in which the reader is enticed to share vicariously one exceptional experience after another. The experiences are presented in succinct, entertaining essays and striking images – some poignant, some humorous, some bordering on the incredible, and all informative!”
“These entomologists/authors have been to Fairbury before and have explored Fugate Woods! Their previous presentations at the Library brought people from all over the area to our small town,” says Bobbi McKeon owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops group.
Dr. Michael Jeffords is a retired education/outreach director with UI Prairie Research Institute, Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS) and previous staff photographer for The Illinois Steward magazine and Susan Post, retired INHS field biologist, was staff writer for The Illinois Steward magazine, and author of Hiking Illinois
“Join these talented authors to the debut and signing of their new book, a peek into their personal cabinet of photography and essays of curiosities telling the story of most unusual encounters in the Natural World!
“They will be back on Saturday, August 26th from 7-9pm to explore Fugate Woods with black-lighting and miniature spotlights to see and experience activity seldom witnessed!” concludes Bobbi.
