Christmas Store by Area Youth for Area Youth

This past Saturday, Fairbury started off the holiday festivities with the Fairbury Christmas Parade.  Now it’s Chatsworth’s turn!  Go to Main Street in Chatsworth on Wednesday, December 5th, for a joyous Christmas celebration.

Chatsworth’s Main Street has turned into Winter Wonderland, all in anticipation of Santa coming to town.  From 6 to 7 pm, you can visit Santa Claus inside the caboose.  Make sure to let him know what you’d like for Christmas and whether you’ve been naughty or nice.  Afterward, jump aboard the horse-drawn carriage for a ride around the block.  The carriage only passes through once a year, so you don’t want to miss this unique experience.

Warm up by eating hot dogs, cups of soup, cookies, and hot chocolate offered by the Citizens Advisory Board.  If that doesn’t do the trick, warm your hands around the bonfire while visiting with friends and family.

Have you done your shopping yet?  Both children and adults from all over Central Illinois are welcome to come to the Christmas Store at the Central Illinois Connection Center in downtown Chatsworth.  The store – created and run by the area’s youth – is open to everyone!  The first floor of the building offers a variety of items for youth while the upstairs is for adults.  With generous donations from Frugality, Harvest Call, and many big-hearted individual donors, gently-used clothing and toys, candy, snacks, and more will be available.  The Christmas Store is a perfect place for children to shop for their parents and vice-versa.  Everyone is welcome, and there’s no need to worry about prices:  all items are free!

The Central Illinois Connection Center – located at 404 E Locust St – will be open on December 5th from 5 to 7:30 pm and on December 8th from 10 am to 2 pm or while inventory lasts.  All donations will go to the Connection Center’s community youth programs like this one.

“Just like Fairbury’s own events, small-town activities and events like these events in Chatsworth are good for all our communities – helping bring folks to the area for fun and shopping!” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire Antiques and Accents.
