A lot is going on this weekend in Fairbury! Take notice and don’t miss these events!
Starting off this extra-long weekend is the Friends of the Dominy Library Fall Book Sale. From Thursday through Saturday, September 26-28, you can stick your nose in any of the many books for sale. This is the Dominy Library’s last book sale of the year, so stock up your library for the winter months!
For this fall season, the featured selections include craft, hobby, and DIY books, as well as Christmas and holiday stories. For your reading pleasure, the book sale offers countless genres including fiction, non-fiction, children’s, mystery, Westerns, Christian, poetry, and so much more! Other than novels, cookbooks, coffee table books, magazines, and DVDs will also be for sale. You only pay 50¢ per inch for books and just 10¢ for magazines!
The book sale will take place in the downstairs of the Dominy Memorial Library. It is open on Thursday and Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturday from 9 am till noon. All proceeds from the event will benefit the library.
Also taking place on September 26th through 28th is Fairbury’s All-Town Garage Sales! Shopping from house to house, you can find everything you’re looking for and more! Furniture, household items, electronics, clothes, antiques, collectibles, and toys will all be for sale.
Some tips and tricks for shoppers: Come bright and early to buy the finest treasures. If you’re searching for the best bargains and deals, come later in the day. Before you get started, grab a map of all participating garage sales so you can plan your route. The map can be found in many stores in Fairbury or go online at http://cityoffairbury.com/wp/.
The garage sales will take place on Thursday and Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, and on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm. The All-Town Garage Sale is sponsored by the GFWC Illinois Fairbury Women’s Club.
Last, but certainly not least, is the Route 24 Junk in the Trunk! On September 28th, from 9 am to 2 pm, Fairbury is holding a mini flea market! This is a great opportunity for you to discover a treasure trove of crafts, collectibles, curiosities, and more at a great price.
If you’re looking to get rid of your “junk” or find a new home for some of your belongings, Junk in the Trunk is the perfect place for you. After all, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure! To register, email email@example.com. The registration fee is $10.
Fairbury’s Junk in the Trunk is located in the Dos Fuentes parking lot (on the west side of Fairbury on Route 24). Make a day of it and stop by any of the Junk in the Trunks along Route 24. Participating towns include Watseka, Gilman, Chatsworth, Fairbury, El Paso, and Eureka.
