Breakfast Helps Support Community Efforts

The Super Shopping Weekend in Fairbury hosted by the Specialty Shops, brought folks to town on a winter day!

The shopping event was nicely complimented by a delicious breakfast! The International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and Rebekah’s of Fairbury hosted their annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast in the dining hall above Meyers Gifts and Services on the upper floor of the Lodge. Main Street of Fairbury was lined with cars!

This event brings young and old in anticipation of a great breakfast of all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage! Plus, the bake sale by the Rebekah’s is another attraction and a great compliment to the breakfast.

Over the last couple years, IOOF has seen the addition of younger members, which in turn brings new ideas on how to make the organization improve. A member, Dan Noe stated, “In the past, we have been able to contribute to the Red Cross, Boys & Girls Club, and the Library. We also provide a scholarship. We appreciate the area communities supporting our efforts and attending our breakfasts!”

“Our next breakfast is on the day of the community sale – first Saturday in May – from 7-11am,” concludes Mr. Noe.

“Organizations like the IOOF and Rebekah’s do a lot of good for our community,” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops Group. “We are thankful for events like these that help bring folks to town and then benefit families and children with the funds that are raised,” Bobbi concludes.
