The Fairbury Garden Club has implemented a great new program this year. They have named it “Because It Makes Us Smile!”
The club members would like to recognize beautiful areas in Fairbury like spring blooming trees, entryways, gardens, and anything that makes them smile. A sign will be placed in the yard that makes them smile.
These random gestures are an encouragement to all of us to try to keep our yards and landscapes neat and beautiful.
The first recipients of the “Because It Makes Us Smile” acknowledgment were John & Connie Rich.
“The redbud trees in front of John and Connie Rich’s house are beautiful this spring. One was planted on Mother’s Day in 1985 and the other is about ten years old. These trees should bring a smile to everyone,” says Barb Ward of the Fairbury Garden Club.
Other recipients were Marty and Brian Sullens. They have a wonderful shade garden outside their house. The flowers really show brightly in the shade.
“If you are on Facebook, please check the Fairbury Illinois Garden Club page,” comments Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops group.
“This Facebook page has a photo album dedicated especially for this new project. What a great way to helping keep Fairbury neat, clean & beautiful! A special thank you to the Garden Club!” concludes Bobbi.
