A Success Story

It is great to hear stories of folks coming to town! The Specialty Shops are great places to share stories of what brings people to the Fairbury community and the surrounding areas. For years, the “Come to Fairbury” brochures have been placed in Welcome Centers and many other attractions across the State of Illinois. These point to our shops and other local attractions which people might like to visit. Another way our town is being promoted is through placemats that you can find throughout Central Illinois. These placemats are more than decorations!

Diane Pawlowski, owner of Antiques & Uniques in Fairbury, had a couple from Aurora recently visiting the store. They had stopped for lunch at Odell and noticed the Central Illinois Connection’s placemat on their table. That was enough to pull them to Fairbury for an adventure. After completing their purchase, Diane told them about some upcoming events such as the Junk in the Trunk and A Local Taste.

“Being able to hand them the fantastic advertising card for Junk in the Trunk was a great help”, Diane remarked. “The card done for the Marsh Park event with all the July and August events on the back, including the Fairbury Fair, was another one which they appreciated receiving. These tools are priceless when it comes to promoting the town of Fairbury!”

Speaking of Marsh Park, the Rededication celebration was a huge success! The park was in perfect shape for the event. The Prairie Central High School Band started things off by playing the National Anthem. Afterwards, people listened to and sang along with music bands while children climbed around on the new playground equipment. There was a wide array of antique tractors and vintage cars on display. Tents were set across the park with different activities such as face painting and different kinds of wooden toys! Plus, the food vendors… great fun!
