A New Generation of Businesses

In the past few years, the Fairbury area has welcomed many new businesses to the area!  Since specialty shops and businesses have a great impact on the economy, new businesses are encouraging and are a sign that Fairbury will thrive for many years to come!  Not to mention, more shops mean more variety for shoppers!

The Hoffman House is owned and operated by Sharon Hoffman.  Built in 1878, this grand Victorian home houses three businesses:  Sisters Inn, Take Five Rendezvous, and Wildfire Health.  The Sisters Inn offers four luxurious, restored bedrooms and bathrooms for rent.  Through Airbnb, you can reserve a room or rent the whole house.  Take Five is a rentable venue for community events.  Its goal is to promote social connection and provide a place to get away from work and stress.  Wildfire Health offers both group and private health coaching programs to those ready to live a healthier lifestyle.

Are you looking to spruce up your wardrobe?  Then Joni Kilgus’s The Spotted Owl is the place for you.  They provide a wide variety of women’s clothing and accessories, such as cute tops, dresses, rompers, and hats.  Their inventory is updated regularly, so check back regularly for new items.  You can shop in-store or online at shopthespottedowl.com.

If you’re looking for a floral arrangement, head to Nature’s Design by Tiff, run by Tiffany Yoder.  From birthdays to weddings, you’ll find arrangements for every occasion.  You can also find a wide variety of gifts, home décor, candles, and bath products.

Satisfy your sweet tooth at Catton’s Creamery with their wide array of ice cream flavors.  Their latest fall flavors include Apple Pie, Butter Pecan, and Pumpkin Pie.  For those who avoid dairy, Catton’s Creamery also offers dairy-free ice cream.  Also, stop in for your daily dose of caffeine:  Choose from delectable frappes, lattes, cold brews, and affogatos.

One of the newest businesses in the area is Timber & Fieldstone in Chatsworth.  Opened in April 2019 by Scotch Kurtenbach, this specialty shop provides vintage, antique, and modern farmhouse décor; candles, and gifts.  The aesthetically-pleasing storefront is the perfect inspiration for decorating your own home.

“It is interesting that many of the new business owners are young!  This is great news for the area as it shows we are growing into our future in a good way!” says Bobbi McKeon, owner of Heart’s Desire Antiques & Accents.
