A Local Taste – Flavors from the Farm

On Saturday, August 12th, come out and enjoy the day in Fairbury!  The Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a fun food festival, “A Local Taste – Flavors from the Farm” in Sunken Park – downtown Fairbury.  This new, exciting event is sponsored by local businesses to showcase area farmers, restaurants, and businesses specializing in FOOD produced locally.

From 11am to 6pm, enjoy many food vendors, a farmer’s market, children’s activities and entertainment.  Vendor foods include brats by Dave’s Supermarket, Kabobs by Livengood’s, Ribs on the Grill by Slagel Family Meats, Butterfly Pork Chop sandwiches by VFW Auxiliary, Fried Sides by Steidinger Foods, Corn on the Cob by the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce, Ice Cream by Kilgus Farmstead, Cupcakes by Bekah’s Bakin, Farmer’s Market and homemade baked goods by Fairview Haven, Farmer’s Market items from Living Waters Farms and Grani’s Acres, and deserts by Lost In Time.  The Coffee Steamer will also be at the event.

The Livingston County Farm Bureau is sponsoring “Garden in a Glove” from 11am – 2pm.  Entertainment will be provided by Jake and the Moneymakers, Farm Hats, and Leftover Biscuits!

Besides the Chamber, festival sponsors include Brandt’s, Steidinger Foods, Slagel Family Farm, Grani’s Acres, Kilgus Farmstead, First State Bank Forrest, Bluestem Bank, Indian Creek Country Club, Living Water Farms, Farm Hats, Popejoy’s, Alexander Lumber, Ace Hardware, and Leman Paint Works.

“Many thanks to all the sponsors and vendors for making this event possible,” says Bobbi McKeon owner of Heart’s Desire and coordinator of the Specialty Shops.

“We are hoping for a sunny day, maybe not too hot,” says Rebekah Fehr, Executive Director of the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce.  “There will be lots of food!  Families are welcome. Looking forward to seeing you at Sunken Park on the east end of Main (Locust) Street on Saturday!”
