SUMMARY:Dominy Library Book Sale
DESCRIPTION:Libraries – those buildings that usually have a quaint appearance\, both big and small\, sometimes with a modernistic upgraded enhancement\, and contain within their internal treasures\, a whole host of experiences. Experiences that are in print\, in audio presentations\, or in video formats that can whisk your mind away into the fictional land of make believe or\, provide insight into a variety of reality topics or educate you on the “how to” for any number of self-propelled projects. \nFrom the minds of qualified experts\, both in real and fictional fields\, come these vast assortments of knowledge and stories that can transport us into a different world or\, raise us to a higher level of educated thinking. That is what a library is and what it does in providing the answers to the various needs of homo sapiens\, aka\, us. \nNow\, it just so happens that Fairbury has an awesome library of its own\, the Dominy Memorial Library\, comfortably situated on the corner of Third Street and Walnut Street (201 south 3rd to be exact)\, and this fine establishment certainly lives up to the expectations that are prompted by the needs of those who seek knowledge and entertainment. Its beginnings were conceived clear back in 1901 when the Dominy family initiated the project and our 21st century version has advanced with the times in keeping up with modern technology. \nIn addition to good ol’ books and such there are eight computers available with high speed internet access and their technical network has expanded to now include WiFi availability – Mr. and Mrs. Dominy would be absolutely awed! \nThis community serving\, well run informational treasure trove\, is a non-profit service and it depends on the patrons and supporters of its user-friendly atmosphere to maintain its operational abilities. One of the ways that this is accomplished is through periodic book sales and guess what\, there’s one coming up! A very gracious and talented group of supporters\, known in the local folk lore as the Friends of Dominy Library\, co-chaired by Mary Morris and Shirley Meenen\, have once again collected a vast assortment of literary talent. This collection contains something for everyone in book form as well as DVDs and VHS tapes that offer presentations in current and not so current fiction\, children’s books\, religious topics\, biographies\, cook books\, coffee table books\, gardening\, and magazines. \nNo matter what your interests are you will most likely find it in this bi-annual presentation so\, come on in and take a gander and see if there’s something there that might tickle your mind. The hours of operation are\, Thursday\, April 24th\, 9am to 6pm\, Friday the 25th\, 9am to 5pm\, and Saturday the 26th\, 9am to 12noon – don’t be shy\, go ahead and stop by\, and help make a difference because every item they sell adds success to the library’s future. See you there with the Super Heroes and Dr. Seuss who might just be getting hints from Heloise or sage advice from Mark Twain.

DESCRIPTION:Dave’s Supermarket has a wonderful reputation for having one of the best meat departments in the area. Their beef and pork products have a long-standing recognition as being among the best cuts that people can buy in supermarkets throughout the state\, and the Dave’s group has proven to be very conscientious with their attention to quality and detail.\nNow\, having restated what most of us already know\, all who read this will be happy to hear that these fine meat products will once again be available with a per pound pricing formula that substantiates the wondrous event that we’ve all come to know as “The Dave’s BIG Meat Sale”. This “get-all-you-can” sale festival is on for Wednesday April 9th through Tuesday April 15th so all us meat lovers have one solid week to treat ourselves by stocking up on our favorite cuts while realizing some serious savings in the process.\nYou know the drill – it’s time to fire up the grill so\, come on up to Dave’s Supermarket and get your share. As is normal at this supermarket\, the Dave’s staff will be happy to assist you in getting your new possessions to your vehicle but you might want to make sure you’ve got some help at home to do the unloading.\nWe’ll see you there – somewhere in between the steaks and the hamburger and\, no\, you can’t back your pick-up truck inside the store – you’ll just have to use a cart(s) like everyone else.
