4/25-Speedway Opening!

FAIRBURY, IL – Race Fans – All right, All right, All right – are you ready to watch some commotion go into motion? The Fairbury American Legion Speedway is getting ready to launch the 2015 season – the cars are ready, the drivers are ready and that infamous quarter mile semi banked dirt track at the Fairbury Fair Grounds is ready and, to coin a phrase, we’re going to be off to the races. This is the Raceway’s 70th season so, can you imagine what those cars looked like back in 1946 – some of them may still be racing. The first full night of racing is scheduled for Saturday evening, April 25th, and the long winter is going to be put behind us as the excitement that stock car racing brings to the area takes its official place in the march to summer. The Speedway is inside the Fairbury Fair Grounds and there are entrances on the south end of Third Street and also off of south First Street – there is plenty of parking, plenty of seating, all kinds of fan amenities with food and drink and more, so bring the family, bring your friends, and bring yourself and lets go racing.

Note: Opening night was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 18th, but because the Illini 100 World of Outlaws program at the Farmer City Raceway is on that week-end Fairbury’s opening night was moved to the 25th. Now you know so make sure you go – its loud, its fast, its scary, and it delivers – get yourself some of the excitement! Hot laps begin a 5:50pm and qualifying starts at 6:30pm.

There is a preliminary event scheduled for Saturday, April 11th from Noon to 3pm – this is a “Test and Tune Practice” and pit passes are $10 and the grandstand is free – if you want to get warmed up for the real deal on the 25th come on out and give them a look see.
